Dentistry is science
and craftsmanship.
Not art.

I'm Alessandro Devigus. Forty years in dentistry, thirty-six in my own practice in Bülach. Former Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry. ITI Fellow. I built The DevigusMethod™ to teach what I actually do — photo, video, AI, clinical workflow — to the next generation of dentists.

A short biography

A dentist who got curious early — and never stopped.

I started in dentistry before digital cameras existed. The internet was being born the same year. I was one of the first implementing CEREC — what today everyone calls digital dentistry. I didn't wait. I just started.

I co-authored the first and second editions of Fundamentals of Color, where I explored digital shade taking long before it was standard. For sixteen years I edited the International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry. I'm an ITI Fellow and a member of the Neue Gruppe.

I work — and still work — as a consultant for many dental companies. I've been involved in new product development for years. The retractors I designed are used in clinics globally. I was part of the team that developed the Godox DK1 dental flash kit. I test new tools every week in my own practice in Bülach, where I still work full time. Sony, Nikon, Canon, Olympus — I shoot on all of them, because the goal isn't brand loyalty. It's daily clinical results.

But none of that is what I want to be known for. The same questions kept coming — from colleagues, students, Instagram, YouTube. Good questions. They deserved real answers, not a comment reply. So I started collecting them. Videos, guides, gear reviews, workflow breakdowns.

At some point I realised — this is already a library. It just needed a home. That's The DevigusMethod™. Not theory. Practical advice from daily work. Especially for younger dentists: you have the curiosity. I have the forty years. Between us, we can figure it out.

"Standardised workflows matter more than gear. Buy once, buy right. Then build the system around it."
— The DevigusMethod™ · Core Principle
The Ecosystem

Four ways in. One method.

The Framework

Look · Scan · Shoot · Diagnose.

The system I use in my own practice in Bülach. Photography, video, and scanning are built into every phase of the treatment workflow — not added on top of it.

01

Look

Clinical observation, plus 2D and 3D X-rays. The eye reads texture, occlusion, and soft tissue. The X-ray reveals what's hidden underneath.

02

Scan

Intraoral and extraoral scans as the geometric ground truth. Integrated, not bolted on after.

03

Shoot

Standardised photography and video — same settings, same retractor positions, same light. Repeatable Monday to Friday.

04

Diagnose

Synthesis. Image, scan, and clinical findings converge into a treatment plan — with AI tools as an extra set of eyes to increase speed and accuracy.

Learn it · Or get it reviewed

Two ways to level up your dental visuals.

Tutorials are generic. Your clinic, your lights, your hands are specific. Pick the path that fits where you are right now — learn the system on your own time, or send me your actual files for a personalised audit.
